Galileo advances 500 MW Spanish BESS pipeline with first project consents

Zurich/Madrid, 11 June 2026. Galileo has secured planning consent, known in Spain as Autorización Administrativa de Construcción (AAC), for an initial portfolio of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totalling 20 MW/80 MWh in the Catalonia region.

The projects form part of a larger first batch of 140 MW/560 MWh of BESS projects for which Galileo has now obtained Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval, known in Spain as the Declaración de Impacto Ambiental (DIA).
