Galileo secures consents for 250 MW of battery energy storage projects in Italy

Zurich and Milan, 7 October 2026 – Galileo has secured consents for 250 MW of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Italy, with consent for a further approx. 100 MW anticipated in the coming weeks, strengthening the company’s more than 3 GW pipeline in the country.

The two consented projects comprise a 125 MW project with 1,000 MWh of storage capacity and a further 125 MW project with 500 MWh of storage capacity. The projects are located in Italy’s North and Centre-South power market zones, well positioned within areas of the electricity system that are critical to balancing supply and demand and integrating renewable generation.
